Ian Cooper MRICS started the practice in London on his own account in 1986, the practice was known as Ian Cooper Associates and employed one other Quantity Surveyor, Chris Sealey MRICS. In January 1989 Martin Poile Dip QS, FRICS joined Ian Cooper to form the new partnership under the name of Cooper Poile Associates.
Currently the partnership consists of the two partners, together with five associates, Chris Sealey MRICS, Paul Etheridge BSc, MRICS, Martyn Hibbert RICS Final Part 3, Bryan Biggs MRICS, Melvyn Cender MRICS and four assistants, Evan Sim BSc QS RQS PMAQS, Paul Maree B-tech QS, Philip Potgieter BSc QS and Richard Jones, one office manager/personal assistant, Barbara Parnell, two administrative assistants, Alison Roper and Kelly Marie Murton plus regular use of additional assistants for particular tasks and assignments, mainly being Alan Tomlinson BSc, MRICS.
The practice has concentrated on working with clients mainly in the retail and leisure industries and are currently working with Pizza Hut (UK), Santa Fe, Pret a Manger, Whitbread New Concepts, Costa Coffee, S F Cody, Safeway, Bella Pasta, Cafe Rouge, ICI Dulux, London Borough of Hammersmith, and LA Fitness on their new build and refurbishment 'roll out' programmes. The practice also acts for other national and regional clients on schemes located to date in six different countries (United Kingdom, Poland, Russia, France, Irish Republic and Holland).
